What is the difference between printing a report to screen and printing to paper?

back

By using the Preview feature in ARM, you may preview a report to screen to fine tune your report (change report options, fonts, margins, etc.) before printing it to paper. The Preview button is below the Print button in the Print dialog. (The Print dialog displays after you click the button labeled Next in the Print Reports window.) The report display in the report preview window one page at a time. Scroll through the current page using cursor movement keys or the mouse. Click Next Page or Previous Page to display another report page.

The report is formatted the same as it will print on the printer. However, if the font selected for the report is a printer-font only (which means it cannot be displayed on the screen) then a substitute font is used on the preview screen. The substitute font will be proportional to the printer font. "Substitute Font Shown" displays on the status bar when a font substitution is used.
