Registered File Types
Registered file types allow a file to be opened directly from Windows
Explorer, an email message, or a program without first starting the
associated program. For example, on most computers the program
registered to open a .TXT file is Windows Notepad. It is much easier to
double-click on a .TXT file than to select Start - Programs -
Accessories - Notepad.
ARM Registered File Types
The ARM setup program registers the following as file types supported
by ARM: .PRT, .DAT, .EDE, .EDP, .STC, .FLD. Sometimes another program
may share a file type, such as a drawing program that can save files
with the same .PRT file extension used by ARM protocols. Unfortunately,
the Windows registry can only associate or define a single program to
open a specific file type.
Viewing Registered File Types
File types currently registered with Windows may be viewed by opening
My Computer located on the Windows desktop. Next select Tools, then
Folder Options, then File Types Tab.
